The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) failed to put in place the Career Ladder Promotion for a Santa Ana Field Office employee.
After trying to resolve the matter informally on her own with HR, she approached the National Federation of Federal Employees, Local 1450 (NFFE 1450) for help. A member since 2010 — this was her first time asking for NFFE 1450 for assistance.
We had the employee fill out an intake form on November 30, 2015, and a grievance was filed on her behalf the same day.
HUD agreed at the grievance Step 1 level to sign an informal resolution agreement providing the following:
- Acknowledgement that a management/processing error had occurred;
- Correction of the Career Ladder Promotion date; and,
- Retroactive pay back to November 1, 2015 (effective date of the promotion)!
NFFE 1450 is proud to be able to assist working-class public servants who are providing a great service to our nation and its people. We help them focus on their work while we handle the internal red tape.
Upon receiving her back pay and corrected SF-50 she wrote “Thank you all again so much for your help and support! All of the support I received from the Union made this ordeal a lot easier to cope with.”
